Never show the sky. Show the room receiving it — and let the sound arrive late.
The brief
Fireworks experienced rather than displayed: coloured light pulsing on faces and ceilings through a window, with the concussion arriving a beat behind the flash.
Why it's hard
The model cuts to the sky, and syncs the bang to the flash. Both moves delete the physics that made the moment interesting.
Show the observers’ world, not the sky. Distance is what makes the sound late, and the lateness is the whole lesson.

The cliche is the firework display itself, a sky full of bloom that captions celebration and involves nobody. Redemption comes from relocating the camera to the receiving end: the effect becomes light behaviour on surfaces and delayed sound, both of which are physics. The late thud is the whole lesson in one detail, because distance is what makes it late.
The model will cut to or pan up to the sky, or sync the bang to the flash. Any frame containing an actual firework, or a simultaneous flash and boom, fails the challenge.
