SL-25 / Surprise Without the Pose

Found It

The search is real — wrong pockets first. The find interrupts, it does not culminate.

The brief

Someone searches pockets or a bag with growing distraction, and the hand closes on the thing mid-sentence of an entirely different thought.

Why it's hard

Models stage searching as a performance aimed at the lens, and let the find land as a triumphant beat. A real search is inefficient and the find is an interruption.

The craft key

Make the search genuinely wrong first — wrong pocket, wrong compartment — and let the find cut across something else.

Starter prompt

Built with the CEMI MediaMax system for Google Veo 3.1. Prompts stay in English — that is the language these models take instructions in. Treat it as a starting point and start varying it.

found-it
A woman in her twenties searches a canvas messenger bag while half-listening to someone off-frame, her attention plainly elsewhere. She checks the wrong pocket first, then a coat pocket, then the bag again, fingers reading crumpled receipts and a bunched charger cable by touch. Mid-sentence of a thought that has nothing to do with searching, her hand simply closes on the keys and she stops talking. The find interrupts her; it does not crown her. Shoulder-following handheld in the Dardenne brothers' register: the operator stands too close, is slightly late on every reframe, and loses her briefly behind her own shoulder. Dirty foreground: a coat sleeve and a doorframe edge cut into frame left. 28mm at f/2.8, visible focus breathing as the operator hunts. Stairwell practical overhead, hard downward shadows, concrete and chipped paint. Audio: fabric, keys, breath, no music.

Why it's built this way

Two anti-AI techniques carry this: a search with real wrong turns (models render searching as one confident reach) and an interruption rather than a climax. The Dardennes are the anchor because their camera is always a half-beat behind the body it follows, which is exactly the operator behaviour that kills the synthetic-anticipation tell. Vary the object and the container, keep the wrong pocket first.

Watch for

A single clean reach that finds the object immediately, followed by a triumphant look to camera — the search becomes a gesture instead of a task.
