The brief

A speed ramp entering slow motion exactly at a physical event — impact, release, catch — and ramping out again immediately after.

Why it's hard

Slow motion gets smeared across the whole shot, or the ramp starts before contact, so the effect reads as a style rather than a consequence.

The event is the trigger. Keep the entire wind-up at full speed so the slowed fraction feels caused.
