Why it's built this way

Asymmetry is doing two jobs here: the vessels do not match and neither does the timing, so the model cannot resolve the moment into a symmetrical ring of identical glasses. Letting the conversation continue through the clink keeps it an event inside a scene rather than a posed toast. One hanging bulb plus a cold window gives mixed temperature and real falloff instead of even table light.
