SL-68 / Transiciones Ejecutadas Por Cuerpos

Two shots engineered for one cut. Shot A: a courier in a stiff canvas jacket crosses a wet loading bay left-to-right and leaves frame right still mid-stride, never slowing. Shot B: that same stride enters frame left on a concrete stairwell landing, the foot meeting the tread on the exact beat the previous foot left. Vector, cadence and shoulder height match; the ground is different. Dirty foreground: a coiled orange extension cable and a dripping galvanised rail cross the lower third, soft. Shot in the shoulder-following register of the Dardenne brothers, lit only by sodium bay lamps and corridor spill. Handheld, 40mm vintage Cooke Panchro at f/2.4, halation blooming on the lamps, the operator's breathing audible in the frame's drift. Salt-bloomed concrete, chipped enamel handrail, wet boot prints. The camera holds the emptied frame half a beat before the cut, because it is waiting, not editing. 24fps.

The cut is invisible only if the body pays for it: same speed, same height, same direction of travel, and no deceleration before the exit. Ask for the empty frame on both sides of the cut — the held beat is what tells the eye the space continued. Changing the ground under identical footwork is what makes it read as travel rather than as a jump cut.
The model slows or turns the walker toward camera before the exit, killing the vector; generate each half separately with the stride cadence stated in the same words so the two halves can actually be cut together.
