Un gesto que está haciendo un trabajo, nunca uno que se exhibe.
El encargo
Un gesto propio de una región incrustado en una interacción real: usado porque las manos están ocupadas, sin que ninguno lo señale y sin repetirse.
Por qué es difícil
Aislar un gesto lo convierte en una lección, y repetirlo lo convierte en una caricatura. Solo se lee como real mientras está haciendo algo útil.
Enmarcado en un hogar de habla ilocana en Ilocos Norte, al norte de Filipinas. Señalar con los labios y la barbilla existe en muchas culturas con significados distintos: reencuádralo en una comunidad que conozcas en lugar de trasplantar la nuestra.
Nunca aislado como demostración. Una sola vez, en menos de un segundo, sin señalarlo.

One indicates a bowl across the table with a directed lip and chin movement rather than a hand, because both hands are full — it takes under a second and neither of them marks it as anything. The other answers by continuing the task. No gesture is isolated, repeated, or presented; the conversation and the sorting never pause. Dirty foreground: a hanging drying net and a slice of shade cross the lens, out of focus. The rule is that a gesture is only real when it is doing work — here, pointing while the hands are occupied — and never when it is displayed. One instance, under a second, unmarked by either speaker; a second repetition would turn it into a lesson. Have the camera miss it slightly and catch up, which is what a real operator does.
The model isolates and repeats the gesture as a demonstration, or exoticises the setting. The setting is scoped to an Ilocano-speaking household in Ilocos Norte. Lip-and-chin pointing exists across many cultures with different meanings, so re-scope it to a community you know rather than transplanting this one.
